Negligence
negĀ·liĀ·gence (ngl-jns) n.
Law. Failure to exercise the degree of care considered reasonable under the circumstances, resulting in an unintended injury to another party.
As a parent, I can not help but wonder if the parent of this 10-year-old was negligent in leaving her alone in a department store...the employee who perpetrated the crime could very well have been a customer.
