Can't Help But Wonder

A restraining order against a cat is vehemently enforced.

A restraining order against an abusive spouse isn't.

Signs of Spring

Captured

Previous

Horry County police's dog team captured Louis Winkler around 5:50pm today, according to Lt. Andy Christenson. Christenson says the officers and dogs found Winkler in the woods near River Hills and Eagles Nest Golf Courses in Little River. Christenson says an employee of one of the golf courses spotted a man in torn clothes, and covered with dirt, around 2:00 pm today. That employee called police, who tracked Winkler for more than 3 hours before capturing him.

Police say Louis Winkler shot and killed his estranged wife, Rebecca Winkler, in a condo complex two weeks ago today. Mr. Winkler had been released from jail, on charges of raping and assaulting Mrs. Winkler last fall. Mr. Winkler was on house arrest, with an ankle bracelet. He was allowed out of his home two hours a day.

The Golf Cart Fairy

There was much anguish in the humble home one afternoon this week when The Wheelz failed to turn.

That anguish was compounded when a stranger breached the perimeter, loaded The Wheelz on a trailer, and drove away.

Woken by much pouncing and even more puppy breath, I stumbled to free the creature for her morning constitution. Upon opening the door, I was greeted by the realization that we had a visitor during the night.

Surely, only one virtuous as the Golf Cart Fairy would be allowed to approach the back door of the humble home during the wee hours of the morning without invoking the wrath of The Great Protector.

Dancin' Shoes

Born with two left feet, I never learned the fine art of dance.

The Kid however, was born with tapping toes, and so I’ve fostered her love of dance with the resignation of the ignorant.

Checks for tuition, costumes, dancewear, tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical shoes are written upon request, without question as such are needs that must be met.

One of the more recent checks was written to cover the cost of new lyrical shoes. The new shoes arrived today.

My initial assessment, “They look just like men’s briefs”?

Confirmed.

Kenneth Glenn Hinson

Instinct, that powerful feeling that can not be described is often overlooked, rationalized, or reasoned away when unsettling.

Kenneth Glenn Hinson, neighbor, acquaintance, and convicted sexual offender (2nd Degree Criminal Sexual Contact perpetrated against a 14-year-old girl) constructed a 5x8 foot underground bunker, kidnapped two teenagers and sexually assaulted them in his den of debauchery.Be aware of your surroundings; of those around you. Double Roll Duel

Violated, she had no choice but to defend her honour.

'twas a duel to first blood with mop and plunger.

Charleston-AP) March 9, 2006 - It was plunger versus mop in a fight between motel maids. Police in North Charleston report a couple of maids got into it over toilet paper.

According to investigators, each accused the other of taking the TP from their respective cleaning carts. Deloris Smith has been charged with assault and battery for hitting the other maid with a mop, but Smith says she was defending herself from a plunger.

The other woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Unlikely Angels

There is a man named Fred Phelps. He fancies himself a “Man of God”, an “old-time” gospel preacher. He claims, “You can’t preach the Bible without preaching the Hatred of God.”

Preacher Phelps’ congregation is made mostly of his family. His church (actually his home) is indoctrinated in the belief that homosexuals are destroying America.

How this belief correlates to the actions of Preacher Phelps and his congregation at the funerals of military members (applauding their deaths, regaling with signs that read “Thank God for IEDs” or “Thank God for Dead Soldiers” escapes me. Perhaps a better explanation is found here:

Jeremiah 14:14 (NIV)

14 Then the LORD said to me, "The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them.

There exists a band of brothers, a motley crew with a two-fold mission: showing respect for fallen military members, their families and communities; protecting the mourning from protestors.

They are adorned, not in robes gilded with gold, but more often in denim and leather.

Their wings are not readily seen.

Their chariots have two wheels.

They are the men and women, nay, angels of the Patriot Guard Riders.

Were it not for the likes of men like Fred Phelps, we may never have known their presence.

Psalm 91:11 (NIV)
